How you'll help shape the book:
We're using a new author platform called Help This Book to gather your valuable insights. This platform allows you to easily offer reactions and comments directly on the manuscript.
Here's what we'd love your help with:
- Overall Impressions: Use the reaction buttons (Love this, Confusing, Useful, Feels Slow, or Thought) to mark sentences or sections that resonate with you or need more work.
- Comments: If you need to, please add comments to explain your reactions. For example, if you click "Feels Slow," you could add: “Feels like you said something similar two paragraphs ago.”
Here's what you DON'T need to do:
- Read the entire book — Simply focus on your assigned section (see above). If you finish and would like to read and comment on more, I won't stop you :)
- Create an account — Just use the link above to access the manuscript. Once you enter your first comment, you will be given an opportunity to “sign in" and enter your email address/name to claim your comments. Please do so, as it will help me. This is different from creating an account.
- Focus on sentence-level details — We'll catch all details like typos in the copy-editing process, so no need to worry about those. However, if you find something clunky, feel free to mark it “confusing.”
- Be biased by other comments — The tool defaults to showing you others' comments. I recommend turning them off. To do that select “reading options” (bottom-left corner) > toggle on “hide reader highlights.”
Confidentiality: Thank you for keeping the manuscript under wraps. It will help ensure a successful launch and build excitement for the book's release. When the time comes, I hope you'll join our amazing street team and spread the word far and wide.
